Tips for travelling on Connex

...despite the fact that they have apparently returned to normal timetabling...

1. Work out what time you need to catch the train.

2. Aim to catch the train 30 minutes before that.

3. Get to the station, find that your train has been cancelled.

4. That's OK 'cause you're there early, so wait for the next one.

5. Get on the next one after it arrives 7 mins late.

6. Attempt to move into the train only to be pushed up against some stinky man with nowhere to stand.

7. Attempt to not fall over despite having nothing to hold onto except the ceiling.

8. Get squashed further into the train as more and more people try to get on at other stops.

9. Get off to change trains to get into the city.

10. Wait about 7 minutes 'cause that train is late too.

11. Repeat steps 5-8.

12. Arrive at work 5 minutes late.

13. Swear at Connex, particularly those annoying "Connex apologises for any inconvenience caused" announcements.

14. Rinse and repeat on the way home.

It is somewhat ironic that the day I get an SMS from Connex telling me that services are back to normal I also get about 4 SMSs telling me that trains have been cancelled in the afternoon/evening...
